Privacy Policy

Last updated: [31/08/2025]

Scam Call Busters (operated by Scam Call Busters Pty Ltd, an Australian company) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our scam call blocking app (available on Google Play) and related website (www.scamcallbusters.com). The app is intended for users in North America. By installing and using the app, creating an account, or providing us access to your contacts and call logs, you consent to the practices described below.

Information We Collect
  • Contact List: With your explicit permission, the app reads your phone’s address book. We collect only the names and phone numbers in your contacts. The app will access phone numbers and contact lists with user consent to provide caller-ID

  • Call Logs: We record incoming and outgoing call metadata (caller/callee numbers, timestamps, and durations) from your phone. This data is used only to match calls to your contacts and manage call forwarding or blocking. No audio or message content is stored.

  • Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your email and chosen password. This is used to authenticate your account.

  • Usage Data: We may collect technical/device information (IP address, app version, etc.) and usage statistics to improve the app. All data collection is limited to what is needed for our service (we follow the principle of data minimizationlegal.appvestor.comgdprlocal.com).

Children. Our app is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

How We Use Your Data
  • Call Matching: We use your contacts and call logs to determine if an incoming call matches a contact in your phone. If it matches, the call is forwarded to the intended party; otherwise, the call may be terminated as spam. This core functionality requires processing your phone data as describedlegal.appvestor.comayamote.com.

  • App Functionality: To operate the service (e.g. sending automated SMS responses or push notifications), we may use your data with your consent. For instance, to send a reply SMS to unknown callers (if that feature is active), we use the caller’s number. (All such automated actions are only taken with user opt-in and can be disabled.)

  • Improvements & Support: We use aggregated or anonymized data to improve our algorithms and fix bugs. Any support you request (e.g. troubleshooting) may involve us accessing your logged data to help resolve issues.

  • Consent and Agreement: By granting permissions and using our app, you consent to the collection and use of data as described. Like Truecaller and others, we assume your consent when you enable features: “By accepting the [Privacy] Policy and/or using the Services you consent to the collection, use, sharing and processing of personal information as described herein.”

Data Sharing and Disclosure
  • No Third-Party Sharing: We do not sell, rent, or share your contact information, call logs, or personal data with marketers or advertisers. For example, Google’s policy explicitly forbids “unauthorized disclosure of people’s non-public contacts,” which we followsupport.google.com. We only use your data internally to provide and improve ScamCallBusters’ services.

  • Service Providers: We use third-party infrastructure (e.g. Supabase) to host your encrypted data. These providers handle data strictly on our behalf. We do not authorize them to share data externally.

  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose personal data if required by law (e.g. court order, law enforcement request) or to protect rights, safety, or property. Any such disclosure will be strictly limited to the requirement.

  • Data Partners: Unlike some apps, we do not share data with “data partners” or advertisers, even with consent. We are committed to your privacy.

Data Security

We follow industry-standard security practices to protect your data. Contact names, numbers, and call logs are stored in an encrypted database (Supabase) with modern cryptography. All data transmissions use HTTPS. Google’s developer policy requires that sensitive data be “handled securely, including transmitting it using modern cryptography”support.google.com; we comply by encrypting data at rest (e.g. AES-256) and in transit. Access to our servers is strictly controlled. Nevertheless, no method is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work diligently to safeguard your information.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described. For example, we keep your contacts and call logs until you delete your account or withdraw consent. As the Appvestor policy explains, “Your Data will be retained until the purpose of use is achieved or You choose to have it deleted.”legal.appvestor.com. In practice, when you delete your ScamCallBusters account (or request deletion), we promptly erase your stored contacts, call logs, and any other personal data associated with your account. This meets Google’s requirement that apps allow “account deletion” and delete user data upon requestsupport.google.com.

User Rights and Choices
  • Access & Correction: You can review or update the personal information in your account (e.g. email). You may also request a copy of or correction to the personal data we hold about you.

  • Deletion: You have the right to have your personal data erased. You can delete your account at any time via the app or by contacting us (see Contact below). Upon deletion, we will remove your data from our active systemslegal.appvestor.comsupport.google.com.

  • Consent Withdrawal: If you withdraw permission for the app to access contacts or call logs, the app will no longer function as intended. (To use the app, you must grant the necessary permissions and maintain an account.)

  • Opt-Out: We do not sell or share your data, so no opt-out from sale is needed. If relevant, consumers in California (CCPA/CPRA) or Europe (GDPR) have rights to limit uses of sensitive personal information; we only process minimal data needed for servicetruecaller.comgdprlocal.com.
